ABOUT DORSET
Over the years we've come to appreciate that good design deserves thoughtful construction.
We enjoy working on projects where ideas matter. Whether it's a new home, renovation or extension, our role is to understand the intent behind the design and carry it through construction. It's not a responsibility we carry lightly.
FROM WELLINGTON TO MOUNT MAUNGANUI
Adam started Dorset Construction in Wellington in 2015. Working on a wide range of homes alongside talented architects gradually shaped an appreciation for good architecture and the role construction plays in bringing it to life.
In 2021, Adam and his family made the move to Mount Maunganui to be closer to family and enjoy the lifestyle the Bay of Plenty offers. Today, Dorset Construction continues to build new homes, renovations and extensions throughout the region.
WORKING TOGETHER
We believe the best projects come from good communication, trust and strong relationships. Building can be challenging at times, but working with the right people makes all the difference.
BUILDING DIFFERENT
Some projects ask you to think a little differently, and we enjoy that. Whether it's building on a difficult site or pouring in-situ concrete, we like finding practical solutions to complex problems.
In-situ concrete takes a lot of planning because there's very little room for error. When it's done well, the result is an authentic finish that's difficult to achieve any other way.
We’re proud to have had our work recognised as among the best in the industry. Architectural awards recognise the architects who design the homes, and we're proud to have contributed to many award-winning projects.
Our 10x10 House, created in collaboration with Patchwork Architecture, has received significant recognition, including winning the Housing category at the New Zealand Architecture Awards. Judges described it as an “inspirational, functional and hugely enjoyable family home.”
Dorset Construction was a total pleasure to work with, and we genuinely feel lucky to have had them build our house. The communication and administration was well managed and they delivered what they promised. It was a reasonably tricky build and the whole team managed the process with care, impressive craft, and good humour. They were not always brilliant singers, but the fact that they did sing so much on site speaks volumes about how they were managed.
